Mega Allergy Friendly Giveaway!

Giveaways | March 18, 2016 | By

This Mega Allergy Friendly Giveaway is pretty much the most exciting thing to hit project:allergy kids!  I’m not really one to do things by half, so if I am going to organise a giveaway, I’m going to make it epic, and of course, it has to suit allergy families.  Of course, no guarantee everything is going to suit everybody, but I’ve tried really hard to choose things free from the common guilty culprits, as well as items for parents and items for children.  I’m sure it goes without saying, but please do check labels and websites, and make an informed decision about whether it is ok for your family…and pass it on to somebody if it doesn’t 🙂  I’d like to say a massive thank you to the very generous businesses who gave so generously for this mega allergy friendly giveaway!  If you do end up winning something, I’m sure they’d really appreciate your feedback on the products.  I’ve started loading all the things up for grabs below, some things will still be added as they arrive and others may be shifted around a bit when I get the delivery….but I’m sure you will agree, there is a lot to be excited about!  SO how does it work?  How can you win…I know that’s what you want to know!  On Monday (21 March), I will load the actually competition entrance on here….all you need to do is come back then or any day next week and enter!  Then you need to go back to the Facebook post and tell me 2 things: where win NZ you are from and what product(s) you would most like to win!  I will be drawing a major prize and 2-3 smaller prizes to share some of the love around.  Whoop!    And of course, please share the love around by spreading the word!

What’s up for grabs????

Baking for a few weeks sorted thanks to Kea Cookies!  I’ve got an entire tub of chocolate chip cookies, and a box each of Gingernut and Hokey Pokey biscuits.  My 8 year old is not happy about me giving the ginger nuts away as she just loves these since trying them at the Gluten Free and Allergy show last year!

A topic that comes up a lot in allergy forums is what washing powder to use when you have children with allergies….especially when eczema is an issue as well. These soap nuts by Soap Nuts NZ are a favourite of mine, I’ve been using them for a long time now as my middle daughter has severe eczema.  They work really well and don’t have all the nasties in that washing powder does.  Soap Nuts NZ have kindly donated a 250g box of soap nuts to the prize pool 🙂

Another big thanks to Friction Foods for 3 packs of corn bites in natural, salt and pepper, and garlic and onion flavours and a pack of plain rice bites.  We had the chance to try these a few days ago, and they were very popular with the kids!

We’ve also got 5  Healthy Food Guide magazines to give away…I’ve been getting this magazine for years thanks to some kind family members gifting a subscription to me every year, and I love it!  I find there are lots of recipes and articles suited to those with allergies 🙂

Another one I definitely want to keep for myself!  (not going to obviously haha): a $30 voucher from Delmaine Fine Foods so you can choose what suits your family best!  Very cool 🙂

And because I know we all need to take safe food with us, especially to birthday parties, BBQ’s etc, I chose this beautiful Wean Green Garden Pack. Big thanks to The Sleep Store for this thoughtful gift.

We’ve also got something else to help with dinner! 2 bottles of yummy sauce from get real food!  A tomato sauce and BBQ sauce that are refined sugar and preservative free and instead sweetened with apple juice and dates.  Awesome work 🙂

Hi what a cool idea! I’d be interested in the co-go bites as we’ve never tried them (for my toddler that is). We have loved many a love-cake – they cook up beautifully & freeze/defrost well too. The angel dairy free cheese to be honest i sulked about cos when breastfeeding my dairy-free boy i knew it just didn’t taste the same. Once he eventually tried it he was disinterested but that may have just been a phase.

We love the love cake brand in our house. Our 4yr old is celiac and gluten free so it’s nice to make their cakes etc for her on special occasions. We eat a lot of pasta but haven’t tried the Barilla brand yet. I can’t wait to come back and enter the competition.

This looks awesome. Both our kids gluten free and the hard thing is that I am allergic to almonds which is in a lot of GF baking – its great to see new products.
We would love to try the pizza bases, pasta, cogo bites and the Dutch cocoa (well actually everything)
We use organ and love bites a lot but I have not seen the hunter gatherer range – where is that from?

So many of the products I haven’t try before but would love to try the gf pizza base, gf cake mixture as the one we currently buy in the supermarket is delicious but would love to try other kinds. Have tried the gf pasta before which is delicious and is hard to notice it’s gf !! My 23 month old would love the fruit juices and I know my mum would love the cookbook and all gf stuff as she has a 14 year old in the house with Coeliacs ! One very lucky winner !! 🙂

Thanks so much for the feedback! One of my big goals was to create a giveaway that would hopefully show some allergy families some products they might not know about which could fit in their household so great to hear there are some you haven’t tried yet 🙂 Sound alike this would be an awesome comp for you to win! I am going to draw one major winner and a few smaller ones so at least a few people will get lucky!

It’s always great getting to try more products available even from when my sister was first diagnosed compared to now there is so many more options 😊 Most of our household is gluten intolerant she’s the only one with full coeliacs.. Now days she doesn’t feel as left out with more varieties 😊 Definitely crossing my fingers and toes !!

We are lucky to not have food allergies in our family, but have some very special friends that are gluten free. I am always hesitant to bake or cook for them in case I do it wrong. Would be special if I won to do a little surprise delivery to these special mummy friends (includes one with three under three) and make them feel special and cared for.

Wow! There’s so much here I haven’t tried – Just goes to show I should spend more time reading packets so we try some different things. We’d love to try the alphabet noodles & soap nuts…I’d never heard of them! In fact I’d love to try everything! I’m going to keep my eyes peeled when I’m next in the supermarket……thanks Malena

This is such an amazing thing to do. My 3.5year old daughter and 23month old are both allergic to dairy wheat and gluten which makes food shopping very hard. My kids allergies have made it very hard for birthday and special occasions. I’ve been looking so long for new foods for my kiddies as the are getting very bored of the ones the are constantly eating.

This has come at perfect timing as my husband and I have just been disagreeing on what I feed my 18 month old daughter. He says I’m too strict and should give her a few more treats. His idea of a treat Pizza Hut….my idea of a treat – making pizzas at home as a family from scratch. The pizza bases and the gf cake mixes would be great so that I can prove junk food is not a treat baking and eating your goodies is a treat and a fun activity to do together.
